Punto Banco Practices and Strategy

Punto Banco Regulations

Baccarat banque is wagered on with eight decks in a shoe. Cards valued less than 10 are counted at face value while Ten, Jack, Queen, King are zero, and Ace is one. Bets are placed on the ‘banker’, the ‘player’, or for a tie (these are not actual people; they just represent the 2 hands that are dealt).

Two hands of 2 cards are then given to the ‘bank’ and ‘player’. The value for every hand is the total of the two cards, however the beginning digit is discarded. For example, a hand of 5 and six has a value of one (five plus six equals 11; drop the initial ‘one’).

A third card may be dealt using the following rules:

- If the player or house has a score of 8 or nine, both players hold.

- If the player has less than five, she hits. Players otherwise stand.

- If the gambler stands, the banker hits on 5 or less. If the player takes a card, a guide is employed to determine if the house stays or hits.

Baccarat Odds

The better of the two hands wins. Winning bets on the bank payout 19 to 20 (equal cash minus a 5 percent commission. The Rake is kept track of and paid off once you depart the table so make sure you still have cash around before you leave). Winning bets on the player pays out at 1 to 1. Winning bets for a tie frequently pays 8:1 but sometimes 9 to 1. (This is a poor wager as a tie occurs lower than 1 in every 10 rounds. Be wary of putting money on a tie. However odds are substantially greater for nine to one vs. 8:1)

Bet on properly baccarat gives generally decent odds, apart from the tie bet of course.

Punto Banco Method

As with all games baccarat chemin de fer has some accepted misconceptions. One of which is similar to a misconception in roulette. The past is not a fore-teller of events yet to happen. Recording past outcomes on a sheet of paper is a bad use of paper and an insult to the tree that gave its life for our stationary needs.

The most familiar and probably the most favorable plan is the one, three, two, six plan. This method is employed to build up winnings and minimizing losses.

Start by wagering one chip. If you win, add another to the two on the table for a total of three chips on the second bet. Should you win you will have 6 on the table, remove four so you are left with 2 on the 3rd bet. If you come away with a win on the 3rd wager, add 2 to the four on the game table for a grand total of six on the 4th round.

If you don’t win on the first bet, you take a hit of 1. A profit on the initial round followed by a loss on the second causes a hit of two. Wins on the initial 2 with a defeat on the 3rd gives you with a take of two. And success on the first 3 with a defeat on the 4th means you are even. Succeeding at all four wagers gives you with twelve, a take of 10. This means you are able to lose the second bet five instances for each favorable streak of 4 bets and in the end, balance the books.
